Each course duration is 38 hours. You can choose 1-2 courses but max 1 course from each subject group (A, B)

COURSE FULL!

On the course, you will learn the basics of Finnish and practice both speaking and writing skills.

MATH (LONG) Refresher Course

In this course, students will recap and recall the content of the previous courses and form a complete picture of all courses of mathematics. The course recapitulates the essentials of compulsory courses and prepares you for a long mathematics student exam.

FINNISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE

Reading skills deepening (S29)

The course objective is for students to strengthen their ability to read a variety of texts, deepen their understanding of multi-literacy, features and types of texts, as well as to develop knowledge of the Finnish literature. Students read a variety of literary and factual texts, discuss the literature and each student presents a freely chosen author or book.

ENGLISH, A-LANGUAGE Preparing to High School English course (ENAvalm)

ONLY A FEW FREE PLACES!

Objective: To review basic English in elementary school and to increase readiness for high school education.

Content: Topics include the world of young people and related topics, as well as current issues. The structures go through, for example, tenses, conditional, passive, indirect narration and word order. The course identifies the student’s readiness for high school studies and provides feedback on how the student’s skills improve during the course.

MOTHER TONGUE AND LITERATURE

Improving writing skills (ÄI8)

The aim of the course is for the student to deepen his / her skills in choosing the aspect of his / her own text and dealing with the topic, to prove his / her ability to produce consistent text, to discuss and write current topics. The essence of the course is the writing process. The course will practice the comprehensibility and clarity of the texts. Writing on the basis of versatile material, producing and analyzing media texts.

BIOLOGY

Human Anatomy (BI4)

Objective: The student will be able to analyze the functioning of tissues and organs, understand the regulation of human chemical balance, understand physiological changes related to reproduction and the human life cycle.

Content: Metabolism and its regulation, regulation of vital functions, reproduction. The course will conduct research measuring the functioning of the human body.

ENGLISH, A-LANGUAGE

Grammar Refresher Course (ENAkert)

Objective: To strengthen and expand the knowledge of English grammar.

Content: The course emphasizes structures without forgetting the importance of the content. During the course, the students receive feedback on how he/she is progressing towards the set goals and how grammar management is perceived by him/her.

ART Ceramic sculpture

COURSE IS FULL!

Objective: The aim of the course is that the student learns the most important styles of sculpture and is able to apply them to his own ceramic work. Students learn to implement their own three-dimensional expression with clay in many ways.

Contents: During the course, different handmade techniques are studied. Students learn the importance of sketching, design, decoration, and finishing in the work process. The course uses a wide range of ceramic materials: different clays and decorative techniques will be introduced.

Salla summer high school price includes a visit to the Salla Museum of War and Reconstruction, as well as the entertainment at your free time, which  will be organized by staff. We will go on a trip, climb Sallatunturi to enjoy splendid landscape and, of course, we will visit our beautiful Oulunka National Park and have a lot of fun and wonderful emotions!
